Nice idea, but...

...is there any scientific basis for this app?

Being pestered by Mosquitos I thought to give it a try, and actually let three separate Mosquitos bite me simply so I could place the phone next to them. Experiment fail. Doesnt faze them in the least. It would probably by more effective to get them attracted to the light of the screen and them squash them with your phone.
